Another month, another great learning experience.
SpaceCute
I gave myself a month to move away from HexEngine and try to create a game prototype to answer LostGarden’s SpaceCute: Prototyping challenge. I was also curious about all that XNA talk lately, so I decided I would dig back in my small C# knowlege base and create my SpaceCute prototype with XNA.
Since I had already programmed in C# a bit in the past, the learning curve for XNA wasn’t so bad, but it was still there. I spent more time trying to figure out how to do simple things like draw a line, scale and flip and image, etc, than actually programming. But hey, another language in my tool box is not a bad thing eh?
I’m a bit disapointed in the result, partly because, unfortunatly, in the month I gave myself to work on this, I could not allocate much time to programming.
You can download SpaceCute XNA - 0.0.1-alpha to see what it looks like for now.
My guess is that this will only work on PC that have XNA Game Studio Express installed, so no-garantee or support is offered … sorry guys.
All you can really do is fling those ship around and they will bounce off each other and that’s pretty much it… not really anything to call home about right?
