Hey Guys! Hey Guys ! Guys ! Guys ! Guys ! Darn it is so empty, there’s echo here. I’m really sorry if I haven’t posted here in a while. Let me try to explain what happened … oh what’s this shinny piece ? … see you guys later !
Seriously what happened was just that I didn’t have much time on my hand so programming games and blogging were not making it high it my list of priority…
Ok let’s try to catch up with what have been happening in the gaming industry :
At E3 , Sony announced 2 versions of the PS3, it’s release date and it’s hefty price. Gamers all over the world roared their disapproval of 2 versions and a high price tag. In a nutshell, this E3 wasn’t Sony’s best. Microsoft, well in place in the market with their next gen machine, talked about the future of the Xbox 360, Microsoft Vista and announced Live Anywhere. Nothing earth shattering, but you could see in the press conference that they new where they were and where they wanted to go with their product. Out off the big 3, after reading news site and blog over the internet, you can safely say that this year’s E3 was Nintendo Wii’s year. With a 6 hours waiting line for their demonstration booth and a press conference showing confidence and in line with their marketing campaign so far.
On July 31st 2006, the ESA announced major changes would take place prior to the 2007 E3. No longer a massive gaming expo, the event is to be downsized to become invitation-only, meaning that instead of around 60,000 people at E3 Expo there will only be 5,000. I think that’s sad for E3, but I think it makes sense to have smaller tradeshow and bigger game convention like the Tokyo Game Show, the Leipzig Games Convention or PAX.
I missed the last IGDA Montreal Chapter’s meeting open to non-member. However, you still can read the report on the IGDA Montreal website.
